TBIG Take Supreme Award - Over $10 Million at Commercial Project Awards 2024

We’re proud to celebrate our project teams who were recognised at the Commercial Project Awards 2024

It was a fantastic night for TBIG at the 2024 Commercial Project Awards held in Wellington on 27 May, with our teams recognised across several categories, including the Supreme Award – Over $10 million for the Whangarei District Council
Te Iwitahi.

Paul Crum, Project Director | Project Management and Service Line Lead – Northern, says it was fantastic to be recognised by the industry.

“It’s an honour to be part of a team that worked extremely hard over a difficult five years to deliver a Civic Centre that had both the community and staff at the heart of its design and outcome,” said Paul.

For the first time this year, the Supreme Award was spilt into two categories to recognise projects over and under $10 million to better reflect the market and celebrate success across different price brackets.

Owned by Registered Master Builders, the annual Commercial Project Awards acknowledge the teams who have created the best quality commercial buildings across the motu. The awards recognise the contribution of the whole project team across varying areas of commercial construction, celebrating innovation and collaboration across the building industry.

Te Mātāwai – Greys Ave

  • Innovation Award

  • Gold Award

Judges’ comments:
“Innovation was key in this project, which is Kainga Ora’s first large-scale, single-site housing redevelopment in New Zealand. A commitment to innovation throughout design, procurement and construction has resulted in a building that truly walks the talk, and the success is evident in the communal feel of the day-to-day workings within and around the building. Social innovation was a crucial component in how the building operates and was integral to the design as both the living spaces and onsite facilities were designed to meet resident’s needs. For example, rather than locating housing on the ground floor, this area consists of commercial spaces where occupants of the building can secure jobs and gain both an income and work experience, a helpful pathway to employment beyond what the building provides.
