TBIG Announces New Corporate Structure to Strengthen Market Focus
We’re excited to announce Brent Thomson has been appointed Director of Engagement & Partnerships, and Byron Roff has taken on the role of Director of Operations, both stepping out of regional management roles.
The new executive structure signals an evolution in how we connect our national capability with regional delivery across Aotearoa.
Managing Director Ian Macaskill expressed confidence in the appointments of Brent and Byron to the Executive Leadership team, emphasising the deep respect and trust in their dedication and focus on the company’s strategic direction.

Brent Thomson appointed as Director of Engagement & Partnerships
A senior project director with 15 years at TBIG, Brent is perfectly positioned step into this newly created role. His focus will be on strengthening external relationships and internal capability, with an emphasis on partnerships, client service, and team development.
“Brent’s appointment formalises the work he has already been doing to bring people and opportunities together,” says Ian. “His ability to foster connection and align purpose with delivery will be critical to our future direction.”

Leading the newly formed Engagement & Partnerships team, I look forward to continuing to create meaningful relationships and innovations that build lasting value for clients,” says Brent.
Byron Roff appointed as Director of Operations
In his new role, Byron will continue to create success for our clients, leading national operations, providing oversight of project delivery and performance across all regions. A former regional lead, Byron brings strong experience in managing complex public sector projects and a reputation for practical, people-focused leadership.
“Byron has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead high-performing teams and navigate challenging delivery environments,” says Ian. “His focus will be on ensuring consistency and clarity in how we operate.”
“In a market that continues to challenge everyone, my focus is on helping clients keep their projects moving by making sure our teams are connected and supported to deliver consistently. I’m also looking forward to supporting our new Business Managers as they step into regional leadership, so clients experience strong, confident backing from TBIG wherever they are,” says Byron.
Hayden Whelan appointed National Partnerships Manager
Hayden Whelan (Ngāi Tūhoe) has been named as National Partnerships Manager, supporting the newly established Engagement & Partnerships team.
Hayden’s national remit is to support strategic client relationships across the motu. Based in Taranaki, Whelan brings more than a decade of experience leading projects that connect community outcomes with commercial and public sector delivery.
“Hayden’s values and leadership style reflect the kind of relationships we want to build,” says Ian. “He brings deep respect, cultural awareness, and a strong commercial lens.”
“I'm genuinely excited to step into this role and to support the achievement of shared outcomes nationally, working closely with our partners,” says Hayden. “No matter where I’ve worked, regardless of sector or region, strong relationships and an understanding of local context have always been key. I’m looking forward to backing our business managers as they continue to build trusted relationships and form partnerships in a thoughtful, purposeful way.”
Alongside TBIG’s Board of Directors, major shareholders, and Managing Director, the executive directors and National Partnerships Manager will steer TBIG towards continued growth and meaningful outcomes.
This shift follows the recent appointment of Honorary Dame Suzanne Snively as TBIG’s Independent Board Chair. Suzanne’s addition signals TBIG’s commitment to enhancing governance and driving its mission forward as a trusted partner in providing professional project management for property and construction projects in New Zealand.
In parallel to the executive leadership appointments, TBIG has promoted four new Business Managers from within the company. This reinforces a commitment to delivering trusted, people-focused leadership and fostering strong regional connections with clients.
