CLIENT
New Zealand Defence Force
seamanship training aids facility
At the Devonport Naval Base, New Zealand Defence Force created a bespoke Seamanship Training Aids facility – Landside and Waterside, which replicates operational equipment in a facility that allows training to be carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
Realism abounds at the new seamanship training facility completed in 2015, so that high quality training can be undertaken ashore in a safe and controlled manner in a Realistic Working Environment. The facility contains a replica Inshore Patrol Vessel Forecastle, Midships, and Quarterdeck, Mainmast and Replenishment Rig Training Aids.
Our team completed Phase Two in 2018, being the Waterside facility which is a purpose-built barge designed for on water training. It includes a VEST Davit, HIAB crane, Gantry and Accommodation Ladder, that allows personnel to train in the launching and recovery of RHIBS and small craft.
